The short answer
BayPro repairs gas furnaces, heat pumps, ductless systems and wall heaters throughout Fremont. We diagnose no heat, weak heat, uneven rooms and odd noises, explain the options and check combustion safety on every gas appliance.
Heating trouble in Fremont rarely looks the same twice. One household has a heat pump stuck in defrost, another has a garage furnace that clicks but never lights, and a third has a wall heater in an older house that keeps losing its pilot. BayPro Heating & Cooling repairs all of these across 94536, 94538, 94539 and 94555, about eleven miles north of our San Jose base in Alameda County. Instead of a one-size checklist, we start by understanding which system you have and how it has been behaving, then test our way to the real cause and explain the repair before any work begins.
Equipment we repair in Fremont
Fremont's housing ranges from older single-story homes to large newer two-story houses and townhomes, so the heating equipment varies just as much. Our technicians work on:
- Standard and high-efficiency gas furnaces in garages, attics and closets
- Ducted heat pumps, including defrost controls and backup heat strips
- Ductless mini-split heat pumps, from single rooms to multi-zone systems
- Gas wall heaters and floor furnaces in older homes
- Thermostats, zone controls and the low-voltage wiring that connects them
- Ductwork problems behind cold rooms, weak airflow and noisy registers
Reading the symptoms
A completely dead system usually points to power, controls or a safety switch. We check breakers, fuses on the control board, thermostat signals and float or limit switches first. A system that runs but delivers little heat might have a dirty filter, a failed igniter that leaves the blower running with no flame, or a heat pump low on refrigerant.
Noises tell their own story. Squealing often comes from a blower motor or belt, rattling from loose panels or a failing inducer, and a boom at startup from delayed ignition. With heat pumps, a whooshing sound during defrost is normal, but a unit that ices over completely and stays that way is not.
Our visit, from arrival to repair
We ask what you have noticed and when, then test the system from start to finish. For gas equipment, that means the ignition sequence, gas pressure, venting and blower. For heat pumps, it means refrigerant pressures, the reversing valve, defrost operation and backup heat. For any system, it includes airflow and duct condition.
Once the cause is confirmed, we explain what failed and what repair it needs, along with any reasonable alternatives. Nothing happens without your approval. Common parts are on the truck, so many Fremont homes have heat again on the first visit, and ordered parts come with a clear return date.
Cold rooms and two-story comfort
In many larger Fremont homes, the heater works fine but certain rooms stay cold, often an upstairs bedroom or a room at the end of a long duct run. The causes are usually leaky or disconnected ducts, missing return air, closed dampers or a single thermostat trying to control two floors. We measure airflow at the registers and inspect accessible ducts to find where the heat is going. Solutions include sealing and insulating ducts, balancing dampers, adding returns or installing zoning.
Safety and looking ahead
Every gas heating repair includes a look at the vent system, burner condition and visible areas of the heat exchanger. Keep carbon monoxide alarms near sleeping areas and on each floor. If you smell gas, leave the house before calling your gas utility.
If your heater is near the end of its life, Bay Area Air District Rule 9-4 is worth knowing about: natural gas furnaces manufactured from 2029 must meet a zero-NOx standard, which in practice steers replacements toward heat pumps. The rules do not require replacing a working heater. BayREN and your local clean energy provider list current heat pump incentives, which change by funding cycle; we confirm them before quoting. We also repair heating systems in Milpitas, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Mountain View and Los Altos.
